About REN+HOMES
REN+HOMES – A unique opportunity to transition to climate-neutral and energy-generator building.
Positive energy buildings (PEBs) represent a promising solution for advancing the EU’s sustainability objectives. Unlike nearly zero-energy buildings (NZEBs), PEBs generate more energy than they consume, with the excess distributed through smart energy networks to support nearby buildings requiring additional energy. PEBs are increasingly adopting renewable energy sources, significantly lowering the environmental footprint of building complexes. While they rely on technologies similar to those used in NZEBs, PEBs integrate a broader range of renewable energy systems into their design, ensuring high energy efficiency.
The REN+HOMES project focuses on identifying and optimizing cost-effective key technologies (KTs) and developing scalable technology packages (TPs) tailored for PEBs. These efforts aim to accelerate the adoption of PEBs, contributing to the EU’s ambitious climate goals.
The REN+HOMES concept core components:
Development and/or upgrade of KTs – This involves 16 solutions: 9 Hardware and 7 Software
National and international methodologies for circular plus energy homes (CPEH) – This includes the 6 national and 1 universal/EU flags.
Physical demonstration of CPEHs – This aspect focuses on the practical demonstration of circular plus energy homes.
